Frequently Asked Questions

201

Stainless steel 201 is the best option when you need durability with low costs. Type 201 was created in response to the variation of nickel prices, that strongly impacts type 304 and 316. Due to the low percentage of nickel, 201 is a cheaper steel but, on the other hand, not so resistant to corrosion. The manganese in its composition also makes this steel to be harder and stronger than type 304 and 316. This steel is less suitable to bending and stamping than type 304 and 316.

304

Stainless steel 304 is the best option when corrosion resistance is required. The percentage of nickel (minimum 8%) in its composition is what makes 304 less susceptible to corrosion and more expensive than type 201, however, type 304 is not as strong as type 201. This steel is the most used in household appliances.

316

Stainless steel 316 is the best option when corrosion resistance is of essence. Due to its higher percentage of nickel (minimum 10%), the 316 is more expensive than 201 and 304. This type of steel has also molybdenum, which helps the fight against corrosion.

Even though these three tools do the same job, they are operated differently. The main difference is that the standard tool tensions when a lever is turned on a screw, while a Ratchet and Easy tools uses a ratchet mechanism, saving space. They are used to tension and cut clamps formed with bands and buckles.

STANDARD:

Our Standard Tools tensions and cuts stainless steel bands from 1/4″ (6.35 mm) to 3/4″ (19.05 mm) wide. This tool provides a tension of up to 2400 lbs and cuts the end of the band when the object is already secured. Lightweight (4.3 lbs) and easy to carry, it is indicated to be used in applications such as: mooring of concrete pumps, transformer installation, railway sleeper bracing, packaging, traffic sign fixing, cable fastening and for any other necessary application.

EASY:

Used on bands from 1/4″ (6.35 mm) to 3/4″ (19.05 mm) wide. The Easy tool is a compact and lightweight ratchet action tool with a built-in cutter. The advantages of this tool over the Standard and the Ratchet ones is that it is smaller, which means it can be used in compact areas, and lighter, which makes it more portable. The easy tool can be used with one hand, which provides a fast application.

RATCHET:

This tool is used on bands from 1/4 “(6.35 mm) to 3/4” (19.05 mm) wide. The Ratchet tool is a portable, high quality tool that is easy and quick to install. Indicated to be used in applications such as: assembly of signs, fixing cables and wires, insulation, palletizing and for any other necessary application.
